Projects > Vulcan Over Windermere

Geoff Ducker says :

Vulcan XH 558 was shot by Chris Ducker on 25th July 2009 flying over Lake Windermere, from the balcony of his home, a most picturesque location. The aircraft last flew in RAF hands on September 1992 , on delivery to C Walton Ltd at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. She later came into the hands of the "Vulcan to the Sky Trust" and a total of £7m has been spent on her restoration.

She appeared at Windermere air show, run under the auspices of the Windermere Rotary Club. Sponsorship was provided by Ken Burchill, owner of the Windermere Hydro Hotel.( you might be able to see reference to the hotel on her open bomb doors).

The first Vulcan was made at Chadderton in Manchester and made its first flight at Woodford on August 30th, 1952. Around this time, the editor of the video was working on the project designs for an engine installation of the Conway engine in Vulcan, at Rolls-Royce, Hucknall. This engine was not adopted for future production.

This film was shot on an HD Sony S12R & was edited in Edius 5.
