Projects > 4472 Diamond Jubilee

SLOA Marketing in association with Steamtown Carnforth presented 'THE DIAMOND JUBLIEE' steam hauled train from Carnforth to Leeds to mark the exact Diamond Jubilee of the entry into service on February 24th 1923 of probably the most famous steam locomotive in the world: LNER Pacific No. 4472 'FLYING SCOTSMAN'.

The £15 fare included all rail travel from 41 designated pick up stations, Steamtown celebrations & the steam hauled return journey to Leeds.

This day out with a difference was captured on Super 8 silent film (camera Eumig mini 5) with speeches etc. taped using Marantz portable recorder by amateur film maker Roland Ward. The rarely shown film was edited / sound dubbed using Eumig sound projector 81 OD and subsequently copied to Hi-8 videotape (Sony V6000), then confined to personal archives.

The film has now re-surfaced through Morecambe Movie Makers.
