Projects > Let's Make Music
Graham Easton's animation was produced as a test to incorporate movement with sound.
The music was produced using a program called Reason Adapted, which allows you to produce a sound track emulating various instruments and then output it in various forms. In the case of this animation, the piano track was output as a WAV file and laid onto the soundtrack in Anime Studio Pro.
Once the soundtrack was in place, the animation was compiled to match the piano music.
The animation was produced in various stages :
- The keyboard was prepared with separate keys in both the up and down position
- The animation of the keys set to music was then produced
- The opening with the keys flying in was actually produced with the keys flying out and reversed in post production
- Titles were prepared and added as required
The hammer came about because I found I had missed a note on the soundtrack and so to cover this error I called it a bad note and created a hammer to hit it with. As it turned out, it brought a little humour to the finished film.
Once all of the scenes had been exported as AVI files, they were assembled in Adobe Premier Pro CS3 :
- The opening shots of the keyboard being assembled was reversed to show the keys flying in.
- An additional sound track was added and the volume adjusted as appropriate
- The opening title was an animated screen shot
Once complete, the finished film was output as an AVI file and saved.
Did it serve the purpose for which it was made, i.e. timing an animation to a sound track already produced? I think it did. This was the first animation I have made using a drawing tablet (Wacom Bamboo Fun)
