September, 2009

28th September - Showcase Raffle

The idea is that every member brings in a movie or just a few rushes to show. The subject is your choice; the time limit is approx 5 minutes. Each entry will receive a raffle ticket and at the end of the night a winner, or two, will be drawn out of the hat.

This is not a competition.


October, 2009

5th October - Movies For The Web

Graham Easton will be demonstrating how to prepare and load your movies to the Internet and updating us on the progress with the club's site. He will be giving us tips on how to install and use a web cam to communicate face to face.

10th October - Public Show

St. Christopher's Church Hall, Morecambe at 7.00pm. This is a fund raising event for the church. Admission is £5, which includes a supper during the interval.

12th October - Visit to Low Fold Studios

We travel to Forton, PR3 1DE, to have a look at a full sized audio recording studio where the MD Martin Hughes will show us how it all works and let us listen to some of their productions.

19th October - Amazing 3D

We welcome Barry Aldous who will be showing 3D movies that he has made and demonstrating the technique he uses with his HD cameras.

26th October - Gadgets & Equipment

An opportunity to bring in and demonstrate the bits and pieces that you have made or bought to help make better movies and check out our "Awards for All" equipment.

31st October - Public Show

"Salute to our Veterans" in the Ex Servicemen's club, Smokey O'Connor's, Morecambe at 7.30pm. We will be showing our two Poulton heritage movies and a selection of World War 2 News Films.


November, 2009

2nd November - Hot Pot Movies

Tonight we can enjoy watching a selection of other clubs' movies in addition to a tasty hot pot and trimmings during the interval.

9th November - Adobe Encore & More

Graeme Isherwood will be demonstrating the DVD production process using the Adobe Encore software. He will also be showing some of the latest programmes that he has discovered to assist the movie makers, usually at a minimum cost.

16th November - Sounds Around

We welcome back Phil Janvier who will be demonstrating how to apply and use Dolby Digital Surround sound for your movies and some sound correction software. As the IOV North West representative he will be giving us information about the latest way we can gain qualification through the IOV.

23rd November - Grand Days Out

Bring along those movies or photographs of our two Grand Days Out to the Black Sheep Brewery & Beamish and any other such days out you have had with or without the club.

30th November - Editing Forum

By popular request we are to have four laptop video editing stations to enable members who are looking to start computer editing to have a go or for those using one of the programmes to learn new ways of achieving better results by comparing notes with others.


December, 2009

7th December - Dave Sephton Competition

The first competition of the season and the subject is "Local interest" with a maximum running time of 12 minutes. To be judged by all club members.

14th December - The Family Tree

Tim Churchill will be explaining how he researches family histories and makes audio recordings of people's memories plus showing a selection of his own movies.

21st December - Virtual Pub Quiz

Quizmaster Graeme Isherwood will be firing questions to groups of members in the style of a pub quiz with prizes for the best team.

28th December - Christmas Holiday

Now is the time to get your clips ready for the Showcase raffle.


January, 2010

4th January - New Year Holiday

Only a week left to get that movie ready for the Showcase Raffle.

11th January - Showcase Raffle

18th January - Annual General Meeting

The meeting of the year where you can change the committee and make your views known.

25th January - Ruby Anniversary Meeting

Tonight we celebrate our Ruby Anniversary with a meal, a cake, a toast and some stories of the history of our club. To be held in the Royal Hotel, Bolton-le-Sands.


February, 2010

1st February - Warriner Trophy Competition

This year's subject is "Public Information". Max length 5 minutes. To be judged by all club members

4th February - Public Show

"Morecambe in times past" in The Dome, Morecambe at 7.30pm. A combination of films from the North West Film Archives and the club's own collection.

8th February - Voiceover For Movies

We welcome Geoff Annis who will be demonstrating and explaining his work as a voice over artist.

15th February - Lancaster Photographic Society 50/50

We welcome members of the Lancaster Photographic Society for a 50/50 evening of movies and A/V presentations.

22nd February - On The Right Lines

Roland Ward & Mike Ellis will be presenting a selection of their railway movies and telling us the stories behind them.


March, 2010

1st March - Music For The Movies

We welcome David Wood, the proprietor of Promenade Music, to tell us how he composes music for both Hollywood blockbuster movies and thirty second TV commercials.

8th March - Cumbria Trophy Competition

This competition is open to all members who have not won a club competition before. The subject is open and the max length is 3 minutes 20 seconds. To be judged and commented on by 3 non-competing club members.

15th March - Awards For All Project

Tonight we take a look at the material that has been filmed by members and discuss the movie that is to be produced.

22nd March - Morecambe Photographic Society

For the first time we welcome Morecambe Photographic Society for a 50/50 evening of movies and A/V presentations.

29th March - Green Screen Movies

Using our new green screen we will be making a record, in our 40th year, of members memories and with space behind them to bring them back to the screen.


April, 2010

5th April - Easter Holiday

10th April - Public Show

The Morecambe Bay International Video Competition presents "The Erics". An afternoon & evening of prize-winning movies. To be held in the Dukes Theatre Lancaster.

12th April - Summer Planning & Technical Topics

Time to sort out the summer activities and ideas for next year's meetings. Technical topics of your choice will be discussed and hopefully explained.

15th April - Inter-Club Competition

This is a six clubs competition hosted by Southport Movie Makers. We enter a movie, not more than 15 minutes long and provide one of the six judges.

19th April - Annual Open Competition

The last competition of the year when the subject is your choice within three classes Documentary, Holiday and Open. The max length of all entries is 12 minutes. To be judged by an independent adjudicator.

26th April - Presentation Dinner

All the competition awards will be presented at this dinner. Venue and menu to be arranged.
