24th September - Welcome Movie Night
Tonight we catch up on what's been going on since we closed for the summer holidays, including the group activities. So bring along movies you have shot during the break and any that could be used for the N vs S competition, the theme is Faith, Hope and Charity.
October, 2007
1st October - The Web and The Club
We welcome our webmaster, Mark Easton, who will be demonstrating how he designed and built the club web site. We will be looking at the ways we can develop the site to show more of what we do and how to show your movies to the world.
8th October - "In The Frame" Video Productions
Our first outside guest speaker is Martin Boardman, a freelance cameraman, who has been a life long supporter of Morecambe Football Club, filming many of their matches. He has also developed part of his video business working closely with schools and children.
15th October - IAC Roadshow
An opportunity to meet members of the IAC North West Committee, led by Richard Curry the Hon Treasurer. We will able to find out how the IAC can help the moviemaker and to watch a selection of movies from the ever-increasing national library.
22nd October - Promotional Movies
Peter Parker will talk about and demonstrate how he has made a number of promotional movies, taking us from the original brief to the finished movie. This will then be used to stimulate ideas for the clubs commission to make a promotional movie for the UK's only stunt actors' school in three weeks time.
29th October - Interviews & Presentations
We put into practice what we learned last year and produce introductions for our show reel and give those grumpy old men and ladies their chance to shine. This is a practical session for as many groups as possible.
November, 2007
5th November - Hot Pot Movies
Tonight we remember Alan Lunn, who sadly passed away this year. We will screen all the movies that Alan wrote and directed for the club and enjoy a hot pot interval, as did Alan for so many years.
12th November - Stunt Movie Planning
We travel to Regent Park Studio the country's only stunt actor's school to plan and arrange the shots we need to make a promotional movie for the school.
19th November - HDV and What's Coming Next...
We welcome Dave Clark, the Area Account Manager for Mitcorp, suppliers of broadcast and professional products in the movie industry. We will learn about the latest products and what's around the corner with HDV.
26th November - Stunt Movie Making
We return to Regent Park Studio to shoot the movie and do the interviews.
December, 2007
3rd December - Dave Sephton Competition
The first competition of the season and the subject is "Local Interest" and the maximum running time is 12 minutes.
To be judged by all club members.
10th December - Computer Update
Graeme Isherwood will tonight demonstrate some of the latest software that can be used in your movie making, both from the high street and the web.
17th December - Christmas Dinner
It's that time of year again to let your belts out one notch and enjoy a festive meal together at the Grove Restaurant, Pedder Street, Morecambe.
24th December - Christmas Holiday
Now is the time to get your clips ready for Jan 7th.
31st December - New Year Holiday
Only a week left to get that movie ready for the Showcase Raffle.
January, 2008
7th January - Showcase Raffle
The idea is that every member brings in a movie or just a few rushes to show. The subject is your choice the time limit is 5 minutes. Each entry will receive a raffle ticket and at the end of the night a winner, or two, will be drawn out of the hat.
This is not a competition.
14th January - Audio File
Phil Janvier, the IOV North West Region rep, returns to the club to talk and demonstrate how to select the correct microphone and headphones for your project. He will also be explaining how the Sony "Cinescore" programme can be used to create music for your movies.
21st January - Annual General Meeting
The meeting of the year where you can change the committee and make your views known.
28th January - Warriner Trophy Competition
This year's subject is "Light" and the maximum length is 5 minutes.
To be judged by all club members.
February, 2008
4th February - My Way
Geoff Ducker will explain and demonstrate how he has modified his set-up to cope with the introduction of HDV. This will be followed by Derek Fox, who will show how he has made a blockbuster movie of an international celebrity and more.
11th February - Lancaster Photographic Society 50/50
A relaxing evening of movies and A/V programmes with our friends from Lancaster Photographic Society.
18th February - Fomatt Filters
Matte boxes and filters are the subject for tonight's presentation by Alan Clark of Fomatt Filters.
25th February - Cumbria Trophy Competition
The competition that excludes whizz-bang editing and effects and using only the camera and VCR. The subject is open and the maximum length is 3 minutes, 20 seconds.
To be judged and commented on by 3 non-competing club members.
March, 2008
3rd March - Batteries : The Inside Story
Tonight we welcome Dave Martland, the founder of DSM batteries, who will show us what goes into making a professional camera battery. Dave will be assisted by Terry Evans of JEM, who retails DSM batteries and lots of other movie making goodies, which he will talk about.
10th March - Lunesdale Camera Club 50/50
A joint evening with our friends from Lunesdale Camera club for A/V shows and movies.
17th March - Editing Challenge
A practical experiment for a number of groups to view and plan a movie from the same selections of clips using laptop computers.
24th March - Easter Holiday
April, 2008
7th April - Editing Presentation
The final editing and adding of sound tracks before presenting the finished movie for judgement.
10th April - Inter-Club Competition
Our first entry into the six clubs competition hosted by Southport Movie Makers. We enter a movie not more than 15 minutes long and provide one of the six judges.
14th April - Summer Planning & Technical Topics
Time to sort out the summer activities and ideas for next year's meetings. Technical topics of your choice will be discussed and hopefully explained.
21st April - Annual Open Competition
The last competition of the year when the subject is your choice within three classes Documentary, Holiday and Open. The maximum length of all entries is 12 minutes.
To be judged by an independent adjudicator.
28th April - Presentation Dinner
All the competition awards will be presented at this dinner. Venue and menu to be arranged.
