26th September - Showcase Raffle
The idea is that every member brings in a movie or just a few rushes to show. The subject is your choice; the time limit is approx 5 minutes. Each entry will receive a raffle ticket and at the end of the night a winner, or two, will be drawn out of the hat. This is not a competition but we would like you to pick the most humorous movie.
October, 2011
3rd October - AVCHD Camcorders & Editing
Colin Lamb will be helping us to unravel the new formats coming onto the market and how to integrate them into our movie making. He will be showing the equipment he has tested and bought that use the new formats.
10th October - In The Mood
With the help of Peter Parker we take a look at how to edit to music and then create the pace of a movie to match the mood. There will be time to demonstrate other editing techniques that you have always wanted to know about so let Peter know what you want to have a look at.
17th October - That Was The Week That Was (TW3)
Tonight we have a look at the footage shot by members during the first week in September giving a snap shot of what we were doing. A story line and editing style will then have to be arranged.
24th October - Top Secret
We welcome Burnley Movie Maker’s member Ron Challen, to show a special movie and talk about his time during the second World War and his involvement with the OSE.
31st October - Colour And The Web
We take a look at how to apply colour correction and effects to our movies with Graeme Isherwood. He will also be giving us his latest free finds from the web, which can help with our movie making.
November, 2011
7th November - Hot Pot Movies
Tonight we can enjoy watching a selection of other clubs’ movies in addition to a tasty hot pot and trimmings during the interval.
14th November - Celtic Storm Films
We welcome the owner of Celtic Storm Films, Rick McLeod. He will be talking to us about his film making career and the work of his film company based in Old Hutton, Cumbria.
21st November - On Track from B&W to HDV
Michael Ellis will take us through his lifetime passion of capturing the magic of the railways from black and white photographs to HD video movies. He will be explaining what lengths he has gone to in order to get the right shot, many of which appear in world wide publications.
28th November - Plan The Movie
Later in the season we will have ago at making a movie in the club and tonight is the night to plan the project and arrange the jobs to be done.
December, 2011
5th December - Dave Sephton Competition
The first competition of the season and the subject is “Local interest” with a maximum running time of 12 minutes. To be judged by all club members.
12th December - Wish You Were/Weren't Here
As we are in the middle of winter it would be good to watch your edited 4 minutes holiday movies, which will inspire us to visit or deter us from going there. It would be appreciated if there could be a commentary on each movie as there used to be on the original TV holiday show.
19th December - Christmas Dinner
Tonight we get on the best frocks for a Christmas dinner at a venue and with a menu to be arranged.
26th December - Christmas Holiday
Now is the time to get your clips ready for the Showcase raffle.
January, 2012

The meeting of the year where you can change the committee and make your views known.
23rd January - Warriner Trophy Competition
This year’s subject is “Sport”. Max length 5 minutes. To be judged by all club members.

2nd February - Morecambe Photographic Society
We travel to Torrisholme to join our friends at Morecambe Photographic Society for a 50/50 show.
6th February - Behind The Antique Cameras
We welcome Paul Hayes the BBC antiques expert and presenter of Cash in the attic, Bargain Hunt, Car Booty and Put your money where your mouth is, plus many other appearances on TV. He will be talking about how the programmes are made and how he presents to camera.
13th February - Make The Movie 1
Tonight we start to make this year’s in house movie, which was planned last November.
20th February - Make The Movie 2
We continue with are movie making and hopefully finish the shooting of another epic.
22nd February - Road Show at Penrith & DCC
We have accepted an invitation to give a show to Penrith & DCC at their regular meeting. This is an extra meeting to our calendar and any members wishing to travel to Penrith are welcome to join their meeting.
27th February - Channel 10 Video Productions
We welcome Paul Bagshaw owner of Channel 10 to talk about and show his companies work on documentary and drama productions. Paul is a member of Southport Movie Makers and will also talk about his work with their youth section.
March, 2012
5th March - Cumbria Trophy Competition
This competition is open to all members who have not won a club competition before. The subject is open and the max length is 3 minutes 20 seconds. To be judged and commented on by 3 non-competing club members.
12th March - Lancaster Photograpic Society 50/50
We welcome members of the Lancaster Photographic Society for a 50/50 evening of movies and A/V presentations.
22nd March - Bob Lattimer at Preston Movie Makers
Our meeting this week is moved to Preston Movie Makers where Bob Lattimer will be talking about his career and award winning movies. Bob was the overall winner of the Eric’s Competition and has won many events around the World.
26th March - For Better For Worse
Wedding videos can be made in various ways so tonight Peter Parker and Dave Weatherley will each tell how they do it. They will be showing some of the best sequences and some of the unusual and unexpected happenings.
April, 2012
2nd April - Quality Sound Tracks
The quality of our movie sound tracks can always be improved and Tim Churchill will be telling us how it can be done from using the right microphones through to post production software.
9th April - Easter Holiday
Egg rolling at your own risk.
16th April - Summer Planning and Technical Topics
Time to sort out the summer activities and ideas for next year’s meetings. Technical topics of your choice will be discussed and hopefully explained.
19th April - Inter-Club Competition
This is a six clubs competition hosted by Southport Movie Makers. We enter a movie, not more than 15 minutes long and provide one of the six judges.
23rd April - Annual Open Competition
The last competition of the year when the subject is your choice within three classes Documentary, Holiday and Open. The max length of all entries is 12 minutes. To be judged by an independent adjudicator.
30th April - Presentation Dinner
All the competition awards will be presented at this dinner. Venue and menu to be arranged.
