Morecambe Bay Movie Makers held their Annual General Meeting on Monday, where the chairman, Fred Dibden, reported another successful year. He reminded members of the meetings that had been held with guest speakers, the practical nights, competitions and thanked every one for their support. He congratulated members for contributing to the club's new web site and the web master, Mark Easton, for its creation and maintenance. The treasurer, Mike Ellis, reported that the club funds were healthy and that it was in a position to upgrade some of its equipment. This would benefit the existing members and help train new members plus improve the movie shows given to the public. The existing committee were willing to serve for another term and were re-elected

At Morecambe Bay Movie Makers' weekly meeting members welcomed Phil Janvier, the Northwest Region's Institute of Videographers representative.
Phil is well known as an expert in the audio aspect of movie making and has written numerous articles in the movie making press, in addition to testing and reviewing audio equipment. In the first part of his presentation he explained the most common types of microphones, and demonstrated their effect using both budget and top of the range equipment. The second part of the evening was a demonstration of the Sony computer program "Cinescore" which enables the producer to create a unique musical sound track from a set of pre-recorded instruments and themes to fit the mood of the visuals and the exact length of time required.

Morecambe Bay Movie Makers started the second half of the season with the "Showcase Raffle". Members brought in a five-minute movie or clip from a longer movie to show, in exchange for a free raffle ticket. At the end of the meeting, four lucky members went home with wine or chocolates. The movies shown included travelogues from across the world, documentaries, promotional programmes, personal diaries, animation experiments and stage shows, making it an excellent way to see the variety of subjects covered by the members when making movies.

Weekly Report - Christmas Meal

December 10th's Morecambe Bay Movie Makers' meeting was the final event in the first half of the current season and moved to the Grove Restaurant Morecambe for the Christmas meal. Twenty-seven members and guests enjoyed a festive dinner and drinks with a free raffle to round off the evening. The Vice-Chairman, Graeme Isherwood, thanked every one for attending and wished all a Merry Christmas and announced that the club would be acting as judges for the Chichester Film and Video Makers annual competition in the New Year.
